Happy to have been the guinea pig for this one! It's definitely a fun game and I think Days of Wonder hit the right mix of accessibility and staying true to the concept of wargames.

If I thought this would get more play I would certainly be buying a copy of my own. In the meantime I'm glad for the occasional online play, and I know I'll be meeting you on the field of battle in the future.

When you will be destroyed by my marauding tanks. Quake in fear, solider!

Hi Austin,
I know this topic is a little outdated by now, but I am stuck at the cave like room that has a keypad door just below the room with the blue ladder leading to Silver Samurai....and I can't figure out how to open this door. I strongly believe I have collected all papers that contain keypad codes and have used them already.

Its like all the game sticks me with in my inventory is: bamboo wand, diamond, small box, & wrappings. I also have (2) key cards left, but haven't found any more doors that require them...maybe they are extra in the game?

Have you figured this out at all? If not, you wouldn't by chance know anyone I could direct this to, would you?

This is driving me crazy!!

Thanks!

It definitely depends on the person. I don't doubt that there are many people who'd love Snakes from the start. People like me, who don't generally like surrealism, just need an extra push in the beginning.

I'm glad I stuck with it as I ended up liking the game - just needed to get past my initial bias towards that particular style of storytelling.

Great work and good luck in the 2010 AGS awards!

Somehow I never gave you a longer comment on this. But I really enjoyed your review.

I feel it's quite common for players to not feel particularly hopeful about Snakes of Avalon despite the fact it gets a lot of good press. I thought that the premise will be very intriguing, but it might be just too strange and risky for quite a few. The screenshots probably don't attract immediate attention either.

I love the fact that different players of Snakes seem to take different things from it. For some it's just a dark, surreal trip, others treat it as a story about trying to redeem yourself, or psychological issues represented in form of a myth. I'd love to see an actual discussion among players about the possible meanings and interpretations - though I guess the game is not popular enough for it to happen.

Christina: in the cowboy themed area if you use the miner's pan(found early on) in the water areas you will get gold. Drop the Idol Mold and use the Gold on it to make it gold filled! maybe that will help you. I am stuck earlier than you are, there are 2 doors I can't get past, one is the door above the cowboy area level, and the other is a door behind the hidden wall at the ladder going up to the silver samurai. Do you know how I can get these keys/passes?

I'm working on a large map made of screen shots now. I can not get to the temple though...nor have I seen nimrod. There is a door (w/keypad) that I can't get past because I don't have a piece of paper with #s...I've picked up everything in all my maps and that door is my only unexplored part of the game (according to my map)
